Job Summary

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking a skilled Transportation Construction Inspector to oversee projects in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Compliance: Verify contractor adherence to contract documents.
  • Consultation and Coordination: Collaborate with contractors, consultants, engineers, and job superintendents on matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and construction methods.
  • Progress Reporting: Prepare daily progress reports and maintain schedules.
  • Shop Drawings and Quotations: Review and check contractors' shop drawings and quotations for variations.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records of quantities and costs of materials used.
  • Payment Claims: Prepare contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommend payment.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Travel: Travel as required for project-related duties or as directed by supervisor.
  • Company Representation: Provide a positive attitude and establish competence and pride in the company.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties commensurate with the position.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English and perform basic math computations.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year PennDOT experience or higher, or minimum of two (2) years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience.
  • Substitution of Experience: Four (4) years of highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience, or non-inspection personnel must successfully complete the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules.
  • Certifications: NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction, NECEPT Bituminous field certification, ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification, PennDOT/PTC CDS certification, ECMS experience, and OSHA 10-Hour certification are preferred.
