We are seeking a highly skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist to join our team at the City of Lewiston, ID. As a GIS Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining and collecting critical GIS data pertaining to the Transportation, Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain GIS layers related to storm water, drainage, transportation, wastewater, and water infrastructure.
  • Work on projects coordinating efforts of the City to create and gather GIS data.
  • Consult with City departments to plan, implement, and complete GIS projects.
  • Serve as technical assistant to support GIS application development, database administration, standards compliance, and GIS system analysis.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Maintain software applications to allow City employees and citizens access to GIS data.
  • Develop/Create maps and mapping programs to assist citizens and workers with map use and interpretation.
  • Develop PC applications as needed.
  • Utilize cartographic and land surveying principles as it relates to GIS, universal projects, and state plane coordinate systems.
  • Analyze processes, develops action plans, and implement solutions.
  • Develops geographic queries and reports.
  • Assists with data creation and collection including the principles and practices of GPS.
  • Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents.
Requirements
  • 2 year degree as an Engineering Technician or GIS certificate preferred.
  • 1 year experience using ESRI GIS software preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GIS principles and practices, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
