Automotive Build Technician I

Job Summary:
The Automotive Build Technician I will be responsible for installing test equipment in development vehicles, including thermocouples, transducers, sensors, and fiberoptics. This role will also involve building, modifying, adjusting, and calibrating installed devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and install low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses, auxiliary battery and electrical systems
- Install, adjust, and calibrate sensors, shunts, fiber optics, accelerometers, and data acquisition systems
- Collaborate with customers, fabricators, and mechanics to identify required locations for sensor installation according to Instrumentation Requirement List (IRL)
- Assist in performing complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation according to Instrumentation Quality Assurance (IQA)
- Diagnose faulty low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring systems and repair
- Work with electronic functional and measurement tools, such as power supplies, function generators, and multimeter
- Maintain records by entering notes into service repair requests
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
- Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of mechanic experience, personal or professional
- Certificate in Automotive Technology or related
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)
- State Mechanic Certification(s)
- Valid driver's license
- Experience performing soldering, crimping, tube bending, component layout, and packaging on vehicles or subsystems
