Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Complete moderately complex mechanical designs for Garmin products, utilizing expertise in CAD software to model complex parts.
  • Collaboration and Review: Participate in design reviews, providing comments and suggestions on mechanical engineering designs to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Testing and Validation: Mockup and test basic mechanical systems to verify compliance with design requirements, and specify test plans to validate moderately complex systems.
  • Vendor Communication: Communicate effectively with vendors that produce custom mechanical parts, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Estimation and Planning: Make estimates on tooling, part cost, and design time for basic mechanical designs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines are met.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Academic Excellence: Excellent academics, with a cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0.
  • CAD Software Proficiency: Demonstrated knowledge of CAD software and the ability to model moderately complex parts.
  • Engineering Tools: Demonstrated proficient knowledge and utilization of relevant engineering tools.
Desired Qualifications
  • Design Experience: Previous work experience in design, particularly for consumer products.
  • Mechanical Systems: Mechanical systems repair or troubleshooting experience.
  • Electronic Packaging: Electronic packaging design experience.
  • Outdoor Enthusiasm: Interest and passion for the outdoors.
  • CAD Software: Experience using SolidWorks CAD software and/or Onshape.
