PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The role involves developing studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, and budgets related to the planning, design, licensing, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas, and telecommunication systems. This position provides expert consultation and recommendations to the organization and other business units or clients based on analyses of company or client-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles, or facilities. The engineer will also review financial data comparing budgeted and actual project costs, operate independently, and seek guidance when necessary. Extended hours may be required during emergencies affecting energy delivery.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Conducts engineering tasks for critical projects or multiple smaller projects with complex features. (50%)
  • Engages in assignments where engineering precedents are incomplete or require extensive experience. (30%)
  • Evaluates, develops, and implements projects with moderate financial and operational implications. (10%)
  • May act as a subject matter expert within the organization, which may include delivering training sessions. (10%)

  • Influences project decisions with moderate impact on the organization, potentially leading teams or contractors in the commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Applies technical expertise to foster a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Proficient in analyzing and interpreting complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies and engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices.
  • Understanding of complex field testing equipment.
  • 4-7 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulations, standards, codes, and advanced engineering principles necessary for unique assignments.
  • Minimum of two relevant career experiences or completion of an Engineer in Training program.
  • 50% completion of an advanced technical degree, M.B.A., or Project Management Certification may reduce experience requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with transmission planning software such as PSSE, TARA, PROMOD, Aspen Oneliner, or similar analytical tools.
  • Graduate degree or advanced coursework in Engineering, Business Administration, or Project Management Certification.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all management levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
