Job Summary:

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant at Christus Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our occupational therapy department. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistency with Administrative and Departmental policies, demonstrating appropriate behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability.
  • Serve as a team member to enhance customer/supplier relationships within the organization.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with customers, suppliers, fellow workers, and supervisors.
  • Participate in established inter-departmental and intra-departmental communication systems and methods to achieve departmental, hospital, and corporate goals.
  • Maintain required records/documentation on a timely manner as specified in departmental policy and procedures manual.
  • Participate in maintaining/improving the effectiveness of the services provided by the occupational therapy department.
  • Attend team meetings, clinical staffing reports, and updating patient reports.
  • Perform patient care-related duties to restore patients to their maximum level of independence and function according to accepted standards of ethical conduct for the occupational therapy assistant.
  • Demonstrate clinical competencies in occupational therapy assisting skills and techniques to promote quality patient care.
  • Assume responsibility as the situation warrants and respond in whatever capacity the condition or schedule requires.
  • Assume responsibility for therapeutic equipment safety, operation, and maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Education/Skills:
    • Basic Computer Knowledge
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
    • Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy assisting from an accredited occupational therapy program, approved by AOTA
  • Experience:
    • New graduate entry-level or any amount of experience in occupational therapy assisting is acceptable
  • Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
    • Maintains current licensure/registration/certification and provides the hospital with proof of indicated requirements
    • BCLS certification required
