Job Title: Certified Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at the Ophthalmology Office. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality eye care services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain patient flow, ensuring efficient and timely care.
  • Perform and record various eye tests, including far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
  • Measure and record patients' current prescription glasses (Lensometry) and perform auto-refraction.
  • Measure intraocular pressure of eyes and perform other tests as requested by ophthalmologists.
  • Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes and ensure patient safety during procedures.
  • Give instructions to patients concerning eye care and take action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
  • Report adverse events and near misses to management and identify possible risks in processes, procedures, and devices.
  • Assist with minor surgery procedures or laser treatments in the office and clean surgical instruments for sterile processing.
  • Collaborate with biomedical engineering to maintain clinical examination equipment and order clinic supplies as needed.
Requirements:
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification.
  • 1+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Assistant.
  • Experience performing Fluorescein (ICG) angiography and diagnostic tests, including OCT, automated visual fields.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and other professionals.
  • Basic knowledge of diseases of the eye and associated studies to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders.
  • CPR Certification (AHA) and High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
