The Employee Engagement and Internal Communications Specialist plays a crucial role in formulating and implementing comprehensive internal communication strategies and content initiatives aimed at enhancing employee involvement for a large workforce. This position also involves crafting executive communications for senior leadership.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this role collaborates with various organizational leaders and departments to ensure that internal communication efforts are in sync with the institution's strategic goals and effectively reach diverse employee groups.
The specialist must possess exceptional content development abilities and demonstrate strategic and creative thinking to foster strong relationships that facilitate the execution and evolution of the internal communications and engagement framework.
This role primarily operates in a remote capacity, with occasional requirements for on-site participation for significant meetings and events.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications and Employee Engagement
- Design and oversee a multi-channel internal communication strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while maintaining timeliness, accuracy, and accessibility.
- Proven success in articulating the organization's vision, mission, and core values effectively to a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.
- Exhibit proficiency in stakeholder engagement and influence through transformational communication strategies.
- Experience in a variety of communication formats, including executive briefings, digital newsletters, and virtual forums.
- Ability to simplify complex information, particularly in health care policy, for various internal audiences.
- Generate content for diverse channels to engage employees throughout the organization, including intranet updates, newsletters, and other media.
- Compile weekly communication forecasting reports.
- Oversee content management and updates for the employee intranet, serving as a dynamic tool for strategic internal communication metrics.
- Manage employee recognition initiatives and engagement programs.
- Prepare briefing documents for leadership's public engagements, ensuring comprehensive support for background information and talking points.
- Gather necessary data and materials to ensure thorough preparation for briefings.
- Assist leadership in high-profile events by capturing relevant content.
- Collaborate with media relations to develop press materials and respond to inquiries regarding public events.
- Facilitate executive participation in public engagements by coordinating logistics and communication deliverables.
- Lead cross-organizational communication efforts for events and editorial schedules.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Required Work Experience:
8-10 years in the communications sector, ideally within health care or human services.
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient writer capable of producing clear and concise content.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Capacity to prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.
Experience in presenting complex information in various formats.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate diverse groups and promote an inclusive culture.
Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a willingness to accept feedback for continuous improvement.
Comfortable working at all organizational levels, building productive relationships with peers and senior executives.
Interest in health care and human services is essential; direct experience is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with various digital platforms.
Preferred Work Experience:
Background in health care communications or public relations.
Experience in implementing successful internal communication strategies.
