Position Summary

The Landscape Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and management of landscape construction projects. This role requires a strong focus on compliance with company policies, contract specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide coaching, evaluation, and training to staff and field personnel in delivering landscape services.
  • Ensure that all construction activities are executed according to contract specifications, within budgetary constraints, and on schedule.
  • Assess project site conditions, including topography and soil analysis, and report findings to the project manager prior to work commencement.
  • Maintain accurate logs of daily and weekly activities for Foremen and Superintendents; update production tracking reports as necessary.
  • Coordinate the dispatch of labor and equipment to various job sites.
  • Recommend staffing changes, promotions, and wage adjustments to the Branch/Project Manager.
  • Participate in internal scheduling, preconstruction, and production meetings.
  • Communicate with contract administrators and project managers regarding permits, utility locates, and inspections prior to project execution.
  • Verify that plants meet specifications as outlined in project drawings.
  • Organize Requests for Information (RFIs) when clarification is needed from architects.
  • Review plans, specifications, and estimates, addressing any material or budget concerns during preconstruction meetings.
  • Familiarize yourself with project plans and specifications before work begins, and order necessary materials in advance.
  • Collect and organize receipts and bills of lading for all materials delivered to job sites.
  • Manage procurement and sourcing of materials for projects, ensuring timely ordering of long lead items.
  • Schedule crews effectively for upcoming days and weeks.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize budgets while maintaining quality standards.
  • Approve, code, and submit material invoices promptly.
  • Conduct in-house walkthroughs upon project completion, including finalizing punch list items.
  • Submit change order information to the Project Manager for owner review.
  • Oversee and approve crew timesheets and vacation requests.
  • Manage the equipment and truck database, ensuring routine maintenance is logged.
  • Monitor crew GPS and driver safety scorecards, providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure all crews return to the office and secure all vehicles and gates at the end of the day.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management or superintendent roles within landscaping, hardscaping, or irrigation.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
