Electrical Superintendent Job Description

DPR Construction is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of commercial electrical construction experience and a strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing construction concepts.

The Electrical Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day scheduling and field coordination of all aspects of the electrical, low voltage systems, and fire sprinkler scopes of a project(s). This includes planning and executing system start-up, test and balance, and commissioning.

The successful candidate will work closely with the project team, project executives, and regional leadership teams to ensure the successful completion of projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pre-construction and project teams in reviewing trade partner proposals, schedules, and logistics
  • Managing the installation of electrical, HVAC, automation, plumbing, process piping, low voltage systems, fire/life safety, and fire protection design/construction coordination
  • Assisting in the development of full commissioning plans for all MEP systems
  • Overseeing onsite construction support for MEP systems and ensuring start-up, balancing, commissioning, and validation certification
  • Developing and overseeing project-specific electrical quality and safety programs
  • Negotiating with authorities having jurisdiction to achieve project occupancy milestones
  • Coordinating subcontractor work scopes, scheduling, and resource-loading
  • Representing DPR field operations as the primary interface with the owner and design team

We are looking for a detail-oriented team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing construction concepts and applicable codes.

Key qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of experience as an electrical or MEP Superintendent
  • Strong understanding of fire/life safety and fire sprinkler systems
  • Good understanding of building automation systems and sequences
  • Good understanding of electrical-related safety regulations
  • Ability to contribute to a culture of safety in a construction environment
  • Proficient in the use of current virtual design and construction software
  • Experience with CPM scheduling and lean pull planning processes
