The State of Pennsylvania is seeking a skilled Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to join our team at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. As a key member of our maintenance organization, you will be responsible for performing a variety of analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair duties for a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel and gasoline-powered equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Conduct inspections and tests to ensure equipment is in good working condition
- Collaborate with other technicians and supervisors to achieve maintenance goals
- Stay up-to-date with manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices
- Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program
- Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment
- One year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License
- Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
