Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Corrections

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at GENESYS Health Alliance. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a correctional setting.

Job Summary:

This is a full-time position that requires travel to multiple sites within the South Georgia region. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing nursing care to inmates, administering medications, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient treatments such as blood pressure checks, glucose monitoring, and weight checks as ordered by a licensed medical provider.
  • Screen patients and assist with sick call. Treat inmates with problems within professional capabilities and refer other medical problems to the appropriate RN, ALP, and/or Physician.
  • Administer ordered medications to inmates as ordered by a licensed medical provider and approved by the medical director and document administration as required by GENESYS Health policy/procedure.
  • Carry out nursing care plans on inmates as prescribed or directed by ALP, Physician, and/or RN.
  • Ensure security of area and medications while administration is occurring and keep safety top priority.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed without disciplinary sanctions multistate license required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Correctional experience preferred.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency required-email, document exchange, excel, etc.
  • Current certification in health care provider basic life support including AED/First Aid.
  • Clear security background and satisfactory motor vehicle report required.

Work Environment:

This position will be required to travel and work as scheduled at the following locations: Bryan, Liberty, McIntosh, and Tattnall County. 30% of work time will be travel-related, and overnight stays may be required for visits, training, and meetings. 70% of work time will be performing job duties at the site in the work conditions listed above in clinic or office settings.
