Position Summary

The Facilities Operations Manager serves as a pivotal first-line supervisor within the Facilities Maintenance Division of the Engineering and Operations Department. This role is responsible for steering the Facilities Maintenance Division by effectively organizing and delegating tasks, assessing outcomes, and contributing to the division's budgetary planning. The manager also conducts performance evaluations and recommends personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, and disciplinary measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and coordinates the activities related to the construction, upkeep, and repair of office buildings and associated systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping.
  • Directs the organization and staffing of maintenance programs, ensuring effective workflow and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Engages in the formulation and execution of departmental goals and objectives, ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Identifies and implements enhancements to service delivery methods and procedures, optimizing resource allocation.
  • Maintains professional relationships within the organization, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to the organization’s standards.
  • Assists in budget management, forecasting necessary funds for staffing and materials.
  • Supervises the troubleshooting and maintenance of facilities and equipment, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Collaborates with external consultants and contractors on building automation and facility upgrades.
  • Participates in safety program administration, ensuring compliance with safety standards and conducting staff training.
  • Maintains accurate records and reports on maintenance activities, work orders, and vendor invoices.
  • Facilitates communication and coordination with other divisions and external agencies.
  • Stays informed on industry trends and innovations, integrating new developments into maintenance practices.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Licensure from the relevant state board.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience in maintenance operations.

Skills Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of building systems, including HVAC and plumbing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical schematics.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capacity to establish collaborative working relationships.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Employees must be able to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects, while also demonstrating strong problem-solving and analytical skills in a dynamic work environment.
