Responsibilities: We are currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for our Cardiac Catheterization Lab. The primary duties of this role include:

  • Providing comprehensive nursing care to ensure patient safety.
  • Directing and assisting in the execution of safe aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Performing various tasks as a circulator and recovery RN in the catheterization lab.
  • Ensuring the catheterization lab is adequately prepared for procedures.
  • Assisting in patient transport and verifying pre-operative preparations.
  • Completing necessary documentation for patient records, including medications and physician orders.
  • Supervising and assisting with safe patient positioning.
  • Conducting sponge, needle, and instrument counts, along with documentation.
  • Securing emergency equipment and supplies as required.
  • Providing support to colleagues, physicians, and patient families.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure/Certification: Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state, along with BLS and ACLS certifications.

Experience: A minimum of two years of continuous experience in a catheterization lab is required, with prior critical care experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to monitor and circulate during all catheterization lab procedures, including pacemaker, vascular, cardiac, interventional radiology, and pain management.
  • Proficiency in pre-operative and recovery care for patients undergoing various procedures.
  • Competence in providing direct patient care to both stable and acute patients.
  • Ability to interpret EKG and hemodynamic tracings.
  • Technical skills in operating and troubleshooting electronic and clinical equipment.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential. The ability to effectively interact with patients, families, staff, and physicians is crucial. Sensitivity to cultural and bilingual issues is important, ensuring clear communication appropriate to the patient's age and developmental stage.

Age-Specific Criteria: Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and interpret data relevant to the specific age group of patients.
