Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist - Ultrasound Specialist to join our team at Discover Vanderbilt University Medical Center. As a key member of our Diagnostic Imaging department, you will be responsible for performing complex ultrasound examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations using advanced imaging software and techniques.
  • Position patients for a wide variety of complex imaging studies, including CT, MRI, IR, and mammography.
  • Recognize and differentiate artifacts from normal or pathological processes, and consult with radiologists to determine proper diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determine technical factors and positioning.
  • Prepare contrast materials and injectable media under the supervision of radiologists.
  • Monitor vital signs and blood pressure, and notify radiologists of any significant changes.
  • Review new technical developments in radiology and recommend improvements to supervisors.
  • Obtain continuing education hours required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the VA.
Requirements
  • At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled.
  • Advanced ARRT certification in radiography (R) and computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or mammography (M).
  • Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • English language proficiency, as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Scanning female pelvis and vascular scans (Duplex Ultrasounds).
Working Conditions

The physical demands of the work include heavy lifting, moderate carrying, pushing, reaching, use of fingers, good dexterity, prolonged walking, standing, repeated bending, and ability to stand and work while wearing a lead apron for possibly long periods of time.
