Substation Field Engineering Opportunity

Xcel Energy is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Substation Field Engineering team as a Field Engineer Intern. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our experienced engineering staff and gain hands-on experience in substation field operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support substation projects, including capital and ops/maintenance, by working with the engineering staff.
  • Perform tasks spanning all aspects of substation field operations, including performance/efficiency, contract and project management, specifying new and replacement equipment, and making process improvement recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the engineering staff to troubleshoot failed/failing equipment and replace it as needed.
Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program, studying areas such as electrical, mechanical, civil, and chemical engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
