Job Title: Computer Services Specialist

South Texas College is seeking a highly skilled Computer Services Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware, peripherals, and software throughout the college.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, repair, and maintain computer hardware, peripherals, and software.
  • Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Develop and implement solutions to technical problems.
  • Assist with desktop images and other critical local desktop enterprise agent software.
  • Coordinate and assist with move requests and faculty, staff, and computer lab relocations.
  • Perform projects and tasks assigned by the IT Operations Manager and/or the Computer Services Analysts.
  • Install and maintain specialized departmental software.
  • Be available for on-call duty on a 24x7 basis as requested by management.
  • Stay current on trends and developments in computer and network hardware and software.
  • Serve on the Change Management Committee periodically.
  • Travel throughout the college district as needed.
  • Serve on virtual teams for a variety of projects.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Networking, Computer Science, or related field.
  • At least three (3) years of work experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Windows environment.
  • Familiarity with personal computers and networking.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
