Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct cabling installation teams
  • Construct and maintain telecommunications closets
  • Implement cable support systems including cable trays, j-hooks, and ladder trays
  • Install various types of cabling: Cat 6 horizontal, backbone, fiber optic, and inner duct
  • Execute installations for specialized systems such as security, CCTV, audio-visual, and fire alarm cabling
  • Perform terminations for Cat 6 and optical fiber connections
  • Conduct copper and fiber splicing, both fusion and mechanical
  • Execute testing for copper and optical fiber cables
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in both copper and fiber optic systems
  • Utilize ladders and power tools safely and effectively
  • Lift and position ladders weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Be available for occasional overtime and travel as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing projects in the communications cabling sector
  • Experience in data center environments is a plus
  • Strong understanding of industry codes and standards
  • Proficient in completing and submitting detailed documentation, including timesheets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude

Desired Certifications:

  • BICSI Certified Technician Installer 1 or 2, Copper and/or Fiber
  • Additional manufacturer certifications
  • Certifications such as OSHA, Confined Space, etc.

Tools: Must possess all necessary hand tools for communications technician work, ensuring they are well-maintained and properly utilized.
