Data Operations Leadership Expert

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Data Operations team, driving strategic direction and tactical execution of database platform management across multiple cloud and on-prem environments.
As Vice President, Director of Data Operations, you will play a critical role in shaping our data-centric organization, ensuring high availability, resilience, scalability, and performance-optimized database platforms. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding the architecture of these platforms, migrating on-premise databases to cloud-native solutions, and fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes continuous learning and improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Roadmap Development: Define and promote a comprehensive roadmap for data operations and database management, aligning with our multi-product, multi-market strategy.
- Platform Architecture: Direct the design and implementation of high-availability, resilient, scalable, and performance-optimized database platforms across multiple cloud and on-prem environments.
- Migration and Deployment: Lead the migration of on-premise database platforms to cloud-native solutions, minimizing risk and downtime for critical business functions.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a team of DBAs, setting performance goals, promoting collaboration, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Upgrade Projects: Drive upgrade projects for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and DB2, ensuring clear timelines, dependencies, and resource oversight.
- Security Protocols: Construct and enforce database security protocols, aligning with industry regulations (e.g., SOX, PCI DSS), ensuring proper data access controls, encryption, and auditing measures.
- Monitoring and Capacity Planning: Ensure databases are monitored with appropriate alerting to proactively identify and resolve issues, and plan strategies for database capacity management to meet future growth demands.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Database Management, including significant professional experience managing multiple database platforms across both on-premises and cloud (Azure, AWS) environments.
- 5+ years of experience leading a data-centric organization in Financial Services or other heavily regulated industries.
- 5+ years of experience leading on-prem to cloud-based technology transformation, with a strong understanding of Agile methodologies and Jira for sprint tracking.
- AWS experience in a mature, leading cloud-first organization is preferred.
- Leadership experience in employee/contractor blended organizations, selecting and negotiating 3rd party products and services, and proficiency in administration of at least one of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or DB2 z/OS is preferred.
The estimated base salary range for this role is $150k - $190k, based on factors such as skills, work experience, and location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive additional compensation program tied to individual and company performance.
This role is Hybrid, requiring your presence within a commutable distance to one of our offices located in Baltimore MD, Charlotte NC, Wilmington DE, Evansville IN, or Dallas/Fort Worth TX.
