About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Public Records Coordinator to join our team at the City of Hutchinson. As a Public Records Coordinator, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our records, while providing exceptional customer service to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record Management: Maintain and update computer-based records and databases for the Hutchinson Police Department and Reno County Sheriff's Office, ensuring compliance with government guidelines and regulations.
  • Record Requests: Fulfill record requests from the public, attorneys, and law enforcement agencies, while working within the guidelines of the Kansas Open Records Act.
  • Customer Service: Provide frontline customer service to the public, answering and directing incoming calls, explaining services, policies, and procedures related to the dissemination of police records.
  • Background Checks: Conduct background checks of criminal history, requiring the ability to maneuver through paper files and multiple software programs to obtain both dated and recent records.
Requirements
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is required; a technical degree or college credits in Record Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of similar or related experience is required; experience working with MS Windows, MS Office, or other MS Windows-based applications is preferred.
  • Certifications/License: Must be able to obtain and maintain limited access NCIC certification within 6 months of employment.
