Position: Armed Court Security Officer
OVERVIEW: The Armed Court Security Officer plays a vital role in safeguarding the Court of Appeals building, its surroundings, assets, personnel, and visitors from criminal activities, accidents, fires, and natural disasters while delivering exceptional customer service.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- 1st Shift (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM) Monday - Friday with variable days/hours per week
- No Weekends. No Holidays.
- Part-time hours ranging from 8 to 24 hours per week
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
- Hourly Rate: $25.75
- Benefits (subject to eligibility): medical, dental, vision, life insurance, group accident coverage, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity, identity theft protection, and Paid Time Off.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver outstanding customer service to clients, customers, and colleagues.
- Monitor and report activities and incidents at the assigned location.
- Manage guard posts, which may include building lobbies, reception areas, and control centers.
- Conduct regular foot patrols of designated areas.
- Prevent unauthorized access to restricted zones.
- Ensure a secure environment for all staff and visitors, enforcing site policies and procedures.
- Verify employee and vendor identifications.
- Identify suspicious individuals, packages, and activities.
- Respond promptly to emergencies.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the designated client contact, addressing client requests and keeping the operations manager informed.
- Adhere to and enforce site-specific guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Possession of a current, valid Concealed Pistol License is mandatory.
- No felony convictions; must pass a criminal background check in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Successful completion of a 5-panel drug screening upon hire and periodically thereafter.
- Preferred experience in law enforcement, military, criminal justice, or customer service fields.
- Exhibit a friendly, positive, and professional demeanor towards clients, employees, supervisors, and the public.
- Possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and de-escalate situations non-confrontationally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to stand or walk for the duration of the shift, navigate stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.
