Director of Estimating

Southland Steel Fabricators, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Estimating to lead our estimating team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for developing accurate project cost estimates for construction or engineering projects.

• Manage and mentor a team of estimators to ensure skill development and knowledge sharing.
• Oversee the workflow and productivity of the estimating department.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align estimating strategies with project goals.
• Develop and implement best practices, tools, and systems for cost estimation.
• Review and approve estimates, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
• Oversee the bid process, ensuring timely submissions that meet client requirements.
• Review subcontractor and supplier pricing, ensuring competitive and reliable estimates.

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (PMP, LEED) are preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction or engineering cost estimating.
• Prior experience in a leadership role managing estimating teams.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as FabTrol and MS Excel.
• Experience with project management and ERP systems is an asset.
• Strong negotiating skills with the ability to resolve issues with vendors, subcontractors, and clients effectively.
