Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Outside Machinist to join our team at HII. As an Outside Machinist, you will be responsible for installing, aligning, and repairing ship machinery, including propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilating equipment, steering gear, laundry and galley equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, align, and repair ship machinery, including propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilating equipment, steering gear, laundry and galley equipment.
  • Lay out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and other surfaces for connection such as shafting and steam lines.
  • Align reduction gears, bearing, shafting, propellers, and rudder and steering engine assemblies.
  • Work from blueprints and use hand tools, calipers, and micrometers.
Requirements

A minimum of 4 years of experience as an Outside Machinist is required for this position.
