Laborer - Construction Site Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Laborer to join our team at The H&K Group. As a Laborer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all work in accordance with OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
- Acquire and maintain tools necessary for daily operations.
- Measure distances, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines to ensure accurate grading.
- Bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms to support construction activities.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery.
- Level earth to fine grade specifications, ensuring a smooth and even surface.
- Mix and apply concrete to support construction activities.
- Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Position, join, align, and seal pipe sections to ensure a secure and watertight connection.
- Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces to support construction activities.
- Assist with pre-run markings and operate a paving lute to fine grade before roller compaction.
- Operate a vibratory plate as needed and shovel asphalt as required.
- Direct traffic around the work area as necessary.
- Perform pipe duties, including getting tools needed for daily operations, setting up a pipe laser, operating a Wacker and jumping jack for backfilling duties, using cut saws to make pipe to proper length, and prepping pipe for connection.
- Shoot grades and check grades using laser or conventional methods.
- Perform connection of pipe work and check for proper pipe slope.
- Prep structures for installation and perform other duties as assigned.
- One month of related experience and/or training.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical skills, including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including movement, lifting, and other relevant tasks.
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries.
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is usually moderate.
