Job Overview

The CAD Technician plays a crucial role in the design process by utilizing AutoCAD to create, adjust, and finalize technical drawings under the guidance of the engineering team. This position requires close collaboration with Design Engineers and Senior Designers to ensure that all drawings accurately reflect the intended specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Revise existing schematics or generate new designs as required to fulfill project objectives using AutoCAD Electrical.
  2. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and senior designers to gather essential information for ensuring clarity, precision, and quality in drawings.
  3. Participate in design evaluations and contribute to enhancing operational efficiencies.
  4. Support panel assembly and wiring tasks as necessary.
  5. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Essential:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in drafting, electrical design, electro-mechanical technology, or automation systems, or equivalent training from a recognized CAD institution.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical schematics.
  • Familiarity with personal computer applications: AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft Office Suite, and knowledge of printing technologies.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • A collaborative team player willing to assist colleagues across departments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks; capable of managing multiple responsibilities; detail-oriented.
  • Ability to maintain prolonged periods of sitting during an 8-hour workday.

Preferred:

  • Understanding of drafting standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with NEC and UL standards.
  • Capability to customize AutoCAD Electrical for enhanced drafting productivity.
