Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Computational and Theoretical Chemistry. The successful candidate will establish an extramurally funded, internationally recognized research program in areas such as electronic structure, reaction dynamics, molecular dynamics, materials design, quantum computing, and data-driven chemistry. The candidate is expected to participate in on-campus collaborative efforts and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching courses in computational chemistry and materials science, as well as mentoring graduate students. The candidate will also be expected to establish a research program that attracts external funding and produces high-impact publications.
Requirements
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field and at least one year of postdoctoral experience are required at the time of employment. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are also required.
Desired Qualifications
Specialized knowledge in computational chemistry and materials science, as well as experience in teaching and mentoring students.
