We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist I Per Diem to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing blood draws and vital signs in adult patients enrolled in research studies.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using aseptic techniques and proper phlebotomy procedures.
- Validate patient identification and confirm accuracy of labels and requisitions before beginning procedures.
- Develop a relationship with patients to provide a comforting and confident experience.
- Accurately complete laboratory requisitions and electronic orders.
- Follow all requirements for sample processing per study protocol.
- Perform venipuncture and select the best area available for blood drawing.
- Follow Infection Control Guidelines throughout the venipuncture procedure.
- Discard all equipment and hand wash between patients.
- Complete phlebotomy check sheets and logbooks as required.
- Provide professional customer service skills and interact effectively with patients, families, and clinical staff.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy certification required.
- Certified in obtaining vital signs.
- Knowledge and practice of proper aseptic techniques.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of veins.
- Ability to communicate with patients and staff to alleviate fears and anxieties.
- Obtain vital signs.
