EBP Audit Senior Associate

As a Senior Associate in our Employee Benefits Practice, you'll act as a liaison between managers and staff associates. Your responsibilities will include audit planning, audit fieldwork, scheduling, staffing, and coordinating engagement workflow. You'll develop and train staff, demonstrate the ability to make decisions, and build and enhance relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage all phases of audit engagements, from planning to timely wrap-up
- Supervise staff, providing timely performance feedback
- Prepare documentation, work papers, financial statements, and client communication letters
- Complete initial review of tax returns, as required
- Consult with clients on benefit plan documentation, administrative, and operational issues
- Maintain contact with clients throughout the year, possessing a thorough knowledge of the client and their industry to provide value-added recommendations
- Serve as a mentor and resource for audit staff
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of two years of experience in public accounting
- Specific experience auditing qualified defined contribution and defined benefit plans, including 401(k), 403(b), multi-employer, ESOP, and health and welfare plans, is a plus
- Familiarity with the various forms associated with employee benefit plans, including Form 5500, is a plus
- Proven ability to consult with clients on benefit plan documentation, administrative, and operational issues, and/or DOL notices or examinations, plan terminations, plan mergers and acquisitions, etc.
- Ability to learn and expand knowledge of ERISA and the retirement plan industry
