Facility Maintenance Cleaner

Position Overview:
The New York Institute of Technology is dedicated to providing a clean and safe environment for its students and staff. We are currently seeking a Cleaner for our Residence Hall located in Jericho. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our facilities, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitization of the building, including waste disposal and recycling efforts.
- Manually sweep and mop various surfaces to maintain cleanliness.
- Utilize both manual and mechanical methods for scrubbing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, extracting, shampooing, dusting, polishing, and buffing surfaces.
- Ensure that light fixtures in public areas are cleaned regularly.
- Maintain cleanliness of first-floor windows and sliding doors in communal spaces.
- Disinfect showers and restrooms designated for public use.
- Accurately select and mix cleaning chemicals as required.
- Sanitize and disinfect surfaces and fixtures using appropriate equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers, vacuum cleaners, and power washers.
- Restock bathroom supplies in shared areas as needed.
- Follow directions from NYIT Administration, Management, and supervisory teams in a professional manner.
- Participate in optional Facilities condition assessments to communicate maintenance needs.
- Engage in training sessions provided by supervisors on equipment operation.
- Complete mandatory online training, including topics such as workplace safety and harassment prevention.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the professional cleaning industry is required.
- Adherence to NYIT policies and procedures is essential, including attendance and uniform guidelines.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, climb a six-foot ladder, and work in confined spaces.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- A valid New York State driver’s license is necessary.

Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this position is as follows:
Minimum Salary: USD $19.50/Hr.
Maximum Salary: USD $19.50/Hr.
