Job Description

Teaching Physics at Queen City Academy Charter School

At Queen City Academy Charter School, we are seeking a highly qualified and passionate Physics Teacher to join our team. As a Physics Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students and helping them develop a deep understanding of the laws of matter and energy.

Responsibilities

As a Physics Teacher, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.
  • Teaching students on the laws of matter and energy, and supporting their mastery of the laws and applications of motion, forces, and gravity.
  • Planning and executing labs to supplement student mastery of content.
  • Preparing all students such that they have the choice to study and excel in any STEM discipline.
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment.
  • Assessing student performance and progress.
  • Providing feedback to students on their progress.
  • Creating a positive learning environment for students.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Collaborating with other teachers and administrators to ensure the success of all students.
  • Building and sustaining positive relationships with parents and families.
  • Enforcing safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintaining required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
  • Monitoring halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.
  • Participating in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars.
  • Maintaining knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in high school science education.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and certification as appropriate. You should also be prepared to provide a copy of a valid New Jersey Certificate or proof of passing the required PRAXIS tests. Additionally, you should demonstrate cultural sensitivity, ability to communicate with parents and students across lines of difference, have mastery of subject matter content, be a team player, hold high expectations of students, and possess a basic understanding of child development.
