ASSISTANT SITE SUPERINTENDENT

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the Assistant Site Superintendent is to aid the Superintendent and Project Manager in ensuring the successful execution of designated projects. This position involves overseeing site safety, quality assurance, project timelines, and facilitating communication with architects and consultants regarding field and constructability matters. Occasional travel may be necessary. The Assistant Site Superintendent reports directly to the Project Superintendent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Superintendent in managing job site safety, quality standards, and project schedules from pre-construction through to project completion.
  • Champion the company's safety culture by ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards among the project team and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Project Manager, project team members, and field personnel.
  • Represent the company professionally in all interactions.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Assist in the successful and collaborative management of the field and project team.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with clients, Construction Managers, project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and relevant community stakeholders.
  • Help establish job site logistics, field coordination, and project timelines.
  • Participate in reviewing all project documentation for constructability and content, including shop drawings.
  • Maintain and update project records, including Requests for Information (RFIs), Architectural Supplemental Instructions (ASIs), and as-built drawings.
  • Assist in developing and enforcing a site-specific emergency action plan in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate activities with subcontractors and manage building inspections.
  • Conduct daily job site inspections alongside the Superintendent and submit daily safety audit reports.
  • Participate in Foreman meetings, pre-task meetings, safety briefings, and project staff meetings.
  • Assist in managing job site workforce productivity and performance.
  • Utilize project management and scheduling software proficiently.
  • Engage in company and industry events, including meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a Foreman or similar role within the construction sector.
  • A degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Candidates should possess a solid understanding of the construction industry, job site safety protocols, planning and scheduling, building trades, and relevant technologies.
  • Essential competencies include initiative, communication skills, teamwork, and reliability.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications is required.
  • Technical proficiency in ProCore, Primavera P6, and the MS Office Suite is necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Assistant Site Superintendent is regularly required to:

  • Walk, climb stairs, sit, and stand.
  • Communicate effectively at normal levels.
  • Utilize close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus as needed.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Operate tools and other business machinery using hands and fingers.
  • Lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
