Clinical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Responsibilities- Assists in diagnosing and managing patients under the supervision of a physician, organizing and presenting patient data to include recommendations for diagnostic and therapeutic regimens.
- Issues diagnostic and therapeutic orders, including orders for approved drugs, following applicable guidelines.
- Provides instructions and guidance regarding healthcare and medical therapy to patients, family members, and significant others.
- Performs comprehensive physical examinations and assessments, recording pertinent data in the electronic health record.
- Formulates medical and nursing diagnoses, institutes appropriate therapies, and refers patients to healthcare facilities, agencies, physicians, or other resources in the community.
- Plans and initiates a therapeutic regimen, including ordering drugs, medical devices, and nutrition and supportive services.
- Interprets and analyzes patient data to determine patient management and treatment.
- Administers injections and dispenses medications.
- Troubleshoots issues with the electronic health record system and serves as an instructor for new providers.
- Prepares reports as needed and serves on various committees and Quality Improvement teams.
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution, completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program, certification as a nurse practitioner, and licensure with the state of Alabama as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse.
OR completion of an accredited physician assistant training program as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within two months of employment.
