Position Overview:
The Critical Care Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering advanced professional nursing care to adult and elderly patients facing serious or potentially life-threatening health issues. This role involves collaboration with medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
Nursing practices adhere to the hospital's policies and objectives, emphasizing teamwork with multidisciplinary professionals to provide care tailored to the patient's age and developmental stage. The nurse will perform various nursing techniques to enhance patient comfort and well-being.
Engagement in performance improvement initiatives is essential to uphold the quality of care provided. The nurse will prepare necessary equipment and assist physicians during patient examinations and treatments. Additionally, the role includes planning, supervising, and instructing nursing assistants and administrative staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Critical thinking skills are crucial for making informed nursing decisions based on patient assessments and outcomes, with the ability to adjust care plans as needed. A professional demeanor and supportive attitude are expected, alongside a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
This position requires significant mobility, including walking and standing, as well as moderate lifting. The nurse may encounter various patient elements and handle emergencies or critical incidents.
Flexibility in working hours may be required, including the possibility of covering additional shifts or units as directed by supervisory staff.
Qualifications:
- Must meet clinical competency standards specific to the Intensive Care Unit.
- Exceptional physical assessment capabilities.
- Prior experience in Critical Care nursing.
- Strong understanding of EKG interpretation and related interventions.
- Experience in CVICU or completion of a CVICU training program is preferred.
- Visual and auditory senses must be adequate for assessing changes in patient conditions.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
- Quick and accurate response to changes in patient status.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program as recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current Florida Registered Nurse License.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
