Position Overview

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for managing the daily operations of a Toppers store, focusing on the recruitment, development, and performance assessment of Team Members. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management

  • Ensure adherence to company standards and service levels to enhance sales and reduce expenses, including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor costs.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of all financial and personnel-related administrative tasks in line with company policies.

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Implement sanitary practices for food handling and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Guarantee consistent high quality in food preparation and service.
  • Maintain a professional restaurant image, including adherence to uniform and appearance standards.
  • Supervise portion control and preparation quantities to minimize waste.
  • Estimate food requirements and costs, place orders with suppliers, and coordinate the delivery of fresh food and supplies.

Operational Oversight

  • Establish and enforce security measures to protect employees, customers, and company assets.
  • Maintain a safe working environment to minimize the risk of injuries and accidents, ensuring prompt completion of accident reports.
  • Manage shifts, including daily decision-making, scheduling, and planning while upholding standards of quality and cleanliness.
  • Ensure fast, accurate service and positive customer experiences, maintaining product consistency with company quality standards.
  • Address all customer complaints effectively, ensuring satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement local marketing strategies while adhering to brand standards.
  • Ensure that the building, equipment, and fixtures are well-maintained and in good repair.

Team Management

  • Guide employees on operational and procedural matters.
  • Foster employee development through ongoing feedback, performance expectations, and reviews, including necessary terminations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date staffing plan for the store.
  • Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
  • Conduct interviews, orientations, and training for new Team Members, emphasizing company values.
  • Encourage teamwork and cooperation through positive leadership and enthusiasm.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Background check is mandatory.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
  • ServSafe certification is required, with adherence to all guidelines.
  • At least 2 years of experience in restaurant or retail management or successful completion of a Manager in Training (MIT) Program.
  • Proficient in various restaurant functions, including food planning, purchasing, sanitation, security, and personnel management.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel) are necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work hours may vary; flexibility to cover shifts as needed is required.
  • High noise levels may be present due to operations and customer activity.
  • Exposure to moving or mechanical parts is possible.
  • Varied weather conditions may be encountered during delivery tasks.
  • Ability to work in both warm and cool environments is necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to meet the following physical requirements:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift.
  • Perform repetitive tasks with full range of motion, including bending and reaching.
  • Carry, push, and pull objects related to food preparation and service.
  • Stand and maintain mobility throughout the duration of the shift.
