Position Summary

As a Lead Fleet Technician, you will take on a pivotal role in ensuring the operational excellence of our equipment. This position requires a seasoned technician who not only possesses advanced mechanical skills but also serves as a mentor to junior mechanics. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee fleet maintenance operations, ensuring that all equipment is ready for rental and meets our high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and uphold a regular schedule for preventative maintenance on all company-owned equipment.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and tests on equipment to verify compliance with quality and efficiency benchmarks.
  • Independently perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of fleet equipment and vehicles.
  • Diagnose issues in internal combustion engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and more.
  • Execute major repairs using diagnostic tools and hand tools effectively.
  • Carry out essential services such as oil changes, tire replacements, and battery installations.
  • Assist in evaluating customer damage and repair estimates.
  • Manage work orders and coordinate parts ordering through the fleet management system.
  • Recondition and replace various components of heavy machinery.
  • Identify and report any significant wear or damage on equipment.
  • Take charge of service calls in the absence of the shop lead and coordinate with Field Service Technicians.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Generate detailed service reports and maintain accurate repair logs.
  • Support the training and development of junior mechanics while collaborating with the shop lead.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in interpreting technical schematics and manuals.
  • Possess a comprehensive set of hand and power tools for repairs.
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment, including forklifts and generators.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Skills
  • Capable of operating multiple vehicle types and equipment.
  • Strong customer follow-up skills.
  • Proficient in safe tool handling.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Competent in basic computer operations for work order management.
