Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Respiratory Therapist Extern to join our team at Highmark Health. As a Respiratory Therapist Extern, you will assist experienced respiratory therapists with floor therapy and the delivery of respiratory modalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in delivering respiratory modalities and therapies to patients under the guidance of experienced respiratory therapists.
  • Set up, maintain, and clean respiratory equipment and devices, ensuring they are in proper working condition and readily available for use.
  • Take initiative to expand knowledge and skills related to respiratory therapy, collaborating effectively with the respiratory therapy team and other healthcare professionals.
  • Manage the storage and distribution of oxygen to ensure a continuous and safe supply to patients, monitoring and maintaining oxygen equipment and storage areas.
  • Accurately document the delivery of respiratory modalities and maintain patient records as required by hospital protocols.
Qualifications
  • High School/GED
  • Currently enrolled in a CoARC-approved school of Respiratory Care, having completed one semester of clinical rotations at a CoARC-approved school of Respiratory Care.
  • Preferred qualifications include an Associate degree in respiratory therapy and BLS certification.
