Position Overview
The Infusion Nurse II is a licensed registered nurse responsible for coordinating and delivering intermediate direct patient care in home settings or alternate infusion suites. This role ensures patient safety and compliance with the physician's care plan while operating under structured supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement intermediate nursing care plans, evaluating patient progress towards established goals. Engage in direct patient care, administer treatments and medications, and educate patients and their families.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patient needs and physical status during each visit, re-evaluating as necessary and communicating significant changes to the physician.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior infusion nurses to uphold patient safety and compliance standards.
- Utilize a patient-centered approach to educate patients and families, promoting independence in managing prescribed therapies.
- Ensure effective communication with the clinical team, medical providers, and families to maintain continuity of care, documenting all interactions in real-time.
- Coordinate discharge planning and prepare comprehensive discharge summaries, reporting on patient care needs and progress.
- Adhere to agency operations, policies, and professional standards, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Utilize technology efficiently to validate treatment plans and document care provided, optimizing work processes.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and initiate emergency procedures when necessary.
- Maintain accountability for professional conduct and practice within the framework of Option Care's mission and values.
- Safeguard patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients about the services offered and their financial responsibilities.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain licensure and competency in patient care.
- Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide guidance to new nurses during their orientation.
- Fulfill on-call responsibilities as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- 1-2 years of experience in infusion nursing preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical activities, including walking, standing, and reaching.
- Potential exposure to blood and infectious materials; safety equipment is required.
