Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinarian to join our team at Petco. As a Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing top-notch medical care to our furry friends, collaborating with our veterinary team to ensure the highest level of animal care, and promoting a positive and welcoming environment for our customers and their pets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
- Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization, ensuring seamless transitions to overnight care when necessary.
- Document patient observations, findings, treatments, and diagnoses in a concise and detailed manner, adhering to practice conventions.
- Collaborate with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of patient care, ensuring the highest level of animal welfare.
- Participate in rounds, disseminate knowledge to staff, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
- Current DEA license.
- USDA Category I accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassionate and sympathetic attitude, with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in emotional and stressful situations.
Compensation and Benefits:
As a valued member of our team, you can expect a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
Work Environment:
The majority of job duties are conducted in our state-of-the-art veterinary full-service hospital, requiring occasional bending, kneeling, lifting, and standing for extended periods. You will also spend a significant amount of time interacting with clients and their pets, fostering a positive and welcoming environment.
