Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist Lead to join our team at Corewell Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Chemistry Lab at our Dearborn Campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the overall supervision of the laboratory department, including daily operations, quality, process improvement, instrument maintenance, and staff training and competency.
  • Assist with management of the laboratory in the absence of the Manager.
  • Review, evaluate, and coordinate quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, and maintain documentation records.
  • Assist in quality variance investigations and the development of process improvement initiatives.
  • Function as a technical resource for instruments and department procedures/policies.
  • Coordinate clinical education programs for medical laboratory science students, residents, fellows, and medical students.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with 16 semester hours in biology and 16 semester hours in chemistry.
  • Minimum of 2 years direct technical experience in an accredited, licensed laboratory.
  • Completion of an accredited clinical internship or equivalent experience/training.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by a recognized certifying agency.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a clinical laboratory environment with hazardous reagents and infectious materials. Considerable walking or standing for long periods of time is also required.
