Key Responsibilities

  • Medication Administration
    • Verify the identity of residents receiving medication and record the name of the drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms.
    • Clarify any order or treatment regimen believed to be inaccurate, ineffective, or contraindicated by consulting with supervisory nurses.
    • Notify supervisors when making the decision not to administer medication.
  • Vital Signs and Documentation
    • Take and record vital signs upon administration of medications when required.
    • Complete required documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Medication Management
    • Order and re-order medications in compliance with federal and state regulations.
    • Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly medication room and cart.
  • Interactions and Compliance
    • Ensure effective interactions with patients and families.
    • Ensure compliance with residents' rights policies.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Attend and participate in care team conferences or meetings as directed by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, or experience as required by state regulations.
  • Completed 24-hour training program provided by the NC Board of Nursing.
  • Passed a State-administered competency exam.
  • Qualifications, compassion, and dedication to a job well done.
