Job Title: Deputy Director, Education Division

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join our Education Division team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Division Director in overseeing the division's operations and assisting with day-to-day management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the division's fiscal year program budget allocation of approximately $6-$8 million.
  • Provide oversight of the Education Division's hotel and other contracting, and processing of travel reimbursements, for education programs.
  • Address personnel-related matters, in consultation as needed with the ADDs and the division director, and where appropriate with the Office of Administration (Human Resources) and the Center's deputy director.
  • Oversee the Administrative Team's collection and maintenance of program-related data and producing reports of data as needed, including for the Center's bi-annual reports to its board and for the Center's Annual Report.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to the ADDs on program planning and assisting the division director in developing the Education Division's annual Education Plan.
  • Oversee, with the division director, the implementation of the Education Division's Education Plan.
  • Assist the division director with ensuring communication about and implementation of Center policies and procedures within the Education Division, including those related to budget, travel, professional development, office space, remote work, schedules, and leave.
  • Review resources and program materials produced by the Education Division including videos, podcasts, e-learning content, program agendas, and publications.
  • Assist the division director in ensuring the rigor, relevance, and integrity of education programs and resources.
  • Assist the division director in communication and coordination with the Center's director and deputy director.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in education, a social science, business administration, or law.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a professional institution or office, preferably in the fields of judicial and court education, continuing legal education, or other professional education.
  • 3 years of experience designing and delivering educational programs for adults.
  • Excellent skills managing people, projects, and resources.
  • Ability to work independently while respecting the role of the division director.
  • Strong writing and public speaking skills.
  • Superior organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, collaboratively, and respectfully with people inside and outside the organization to meet the Center's mission.
  • Diplomatic skills to successfully navigate internal and external relationships.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience with budget uncertainty.
  • Experience developing, mentoring, and coaching new and seasoned managers, faculty, and/or staff.
  • Familiarity with federal procurement and personnel rules and procedures.
  • Experience managing on-site and remote employees.
  • Experience enhancing and streamlining processes, services, and programs.
  • Comfort using data collection and presentation software.
