Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join our team at Alberici Constructors. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design process for electrical scopes on various projects, ensuring that designs meet client requirements and adhere to contracted scope, budget, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design process for electrical scopes on design-build, engineer-procure-construct, and other alternative delivery projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define scope and sequence of design delivery, including composition and timing of early release packages.
  • Establish a culture of accountability within the design team and communicate project expectations with designers.
  • Manage change management logs throughout the design phase, including cost and schedule impact.
  • Coordinate review cycles amongst project teams and manage Alberici's risk in terms of scope creep, scope gaps, and constructability issues.
  • Provide program validation to ensure building systems and owner-provided process equipment have proper structural and MEP support.
  • Collaborate with estimating teams to establish and periodically review cost trend logs throughout design.
  • Assist estimating and operations teams with screening of relevant trade partners and suppliers and reviewing construction bids.
  • Collaborate with VDC teams to establish and execute project-specific BIM implementation plans.
  • Support operations/construction teams during construction and close-out by managing design teams through design changes and issue resolution.
  • Assist Director, Design Integration in the development of design integration tools, templates, and best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for electrical design, performing peer reviews and constructability reviews.
  • Support project development teams during pre-proposal and project pursuit phases, collaborating on capture strategy and participating in client presentations.
  • Solicit and evaluate proposals from primary and specialty design consultants and participate in negotiation of design contracts on design-build and engineer-procure-construct projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from a four-year college or university and ten (10) years of experience in electrical design, including five years in either a single-discipline or multi-discipline project management role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience on design-build projects.
  • Licensure as a professional engineer (P.E.) preferred.
  • Certification as a LEED AP or a DBIA certified professional a plus.
