Retail Event Coordinator

At Michaels Stores, we're looking for a skilled Event Planning and Customer Service Specialist to join our team. As an Event Planning and Customer Service Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating events within our store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for our guests. This includes planning and coordinating multiple events at once, engaging with clients of all ages, and creating an environment of fun and creativity. You will also be responsible for delivering friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they're looking for, ensuring all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Additionally, you will complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans and events based on client's feedback and needs.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
• Provide fast and friendly check out experience.
• Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
• Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
• Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
• Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes.
• Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
• Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
• Support shrink and safety programs
Requirements:
• Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
• Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others, including guests of all ages and co-workers.
• Excellent people skills.
• Experience working with children and children's events.
• Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Work Environment:
• Public retail store setting taking care of our customers.
• All public areas are climate controlled.
• Some stock rooms may not be climate controlled.
• Some outdoor work if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks.
• Frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press.
• Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings
