Clinical Documentation Specialist, Cardiology Department

We are seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Documentation Specialist to join our Cardiology team at Prisma Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters.
Job SummaryThe Clinical Documentation Specialist will accompany physicians during office-based patient encounters, accurately documenting events and decision-making in the medical chart. This position involves handling time-consuming clerical responsibilities, allowing physicians to focus on providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Accompany physicians into examination rooms to transcribe patient history, physical exam findings, and document encounters with patients and others present.
- Enter diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescription refills as dictated and signed by physicians.
- Document patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and hospital procedures, as dictated and signed by physicians.
- Prepare plans for follow-up care, as directed by physicians.
- Provide advanced support to physicians, including documenting phone calls, scanning outside medical records, completing referrals, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Travel with physicians to outlying clinics as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- No previous experience is required; 6 months of experience as a Medical Scribe is preferred.
- Medical scribe certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and/or ICD 9 & 10 coding is preferred.
