Position Overview:

Perkins Eastman is seeking a dedicated Senior Project Architect for our Raleigh office. This role focuses on overseeing construction administration for significant projects, managing construction contracts, providing insights on building techniques, interpreting construction documents, processing shop drawings and submittals, and collaborating closely with the Project Manager, Project Designer, and principal-in-charge.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about integrating their technical expertise and construction administration skills on multi-family, senior living, and mixed-use developments currently in progress and set to commence in the North Carolina area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue design sketches, maintain daily communication with construction managers/general contractors, mentor junior staff, and offer technical guidance on projects, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendations for design solutions that align with project and client requirements.
  • Participate in and represent Perkins Eastman in Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of state and local building codes and referenced standards.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior team members.

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in architectural practice and construction administration across various building types in the region.
  • A professional degree in architecture is preferred; licensure is not mandatory.
  • Experience in managing diverse aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation management with project consultants.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and local building codes and referenced standards.
  • Able to interpret, communicate, and present design intent while finding solutions with general contractors, owners, and team members throughout the construction phase.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration with engineers, owners, and builders in a focused and respectful office environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Adobe, and Bluebeam is essential.
  • Familiarity with Revit and other MEP coordination software like Navisworks is preferred.
  • Experience with construction project management software such as Newforma and ProCore is required (training will be provided).

Work Arrangement: Hybrid model with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, offering flexible work hours.
