Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing a variety of skilled tasks and supporting functions that pertain to the upkeep of facilities and vehicle fleets. This role encompasses the maintenance and enhancement of designated properties, utilities, and equipment repairs. The technician will also assist Specialty Maintenance Technicians and contribute to corporate projects and initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with various maintenance and building enhancement tasks as directed by facility, fleet, corporate, or division managers.
  • Ensure the proper upkeep and maintenance of facilities, utilities, and equipment.
  • Utilize a diverse range of hand and power tools relevant to building maintenance and restoration trades.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in peak working condition.
  • Identify issues and troubleshoot equipment; repair defective equipment related to restoration work.
  • Support the Fleet Manager with vehicle fleet tasks and maintenance as required.
  • Keep accurate records related to assigned tasks and work completed.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees by setting up workspaces and preparing necessary tools.
  • Comply with health and safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance for projects linked to Fleet and Facilities.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent technical training or experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Completion or progress in an apprenticeship program and/or two years of experience in maintenance or construction trades is advantageous.
  • Experience with power tools is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to adapt to various work environments and requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster productive working relationships.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Work Environment

Conditions for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, and place objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Mobility to navigate stairs, service ramps, and ladders.
  • Physical ability to reach overhead and below knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Willingness to travel to various facilities as needed.
  • Availability for overtime, after-hours responses, and weekend work as required.
