The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is seeking a Lead Computer Scientist to join our team in Washington, D.C. As a Lead Computer Scientist, you will be responsible for leading a team of software developers and engineers to design, develop, and maintain complex software systems that support the NTIA's mission to promote innovation and competitiveness in the telecommunications industry.

Salary: $150,000 - $220,000 per year

About the Job

The Lead Computer Scientist will lead a team of software developers and engineers to develop new software requirements, write programming codes, and design computer architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, mathematics, and statistics, with a focus on software development and technical problem-solving.

  • Lead a team of software developers and engineers to design, develop, and maintain complex software systems;
  • Collaborate with senior developers and engineers to identify and prioritize software requirements;
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and guides for software systems;
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to junior developers;
  • Maintain and improve existing software systems to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.

To be successful in this role, you must have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You should also be proficient in Agile development methodologies and have experience with version control systems such as Git.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field;
  • At least 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on complex system design and development;
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles;
  • Experience with modern programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++;
  • Proficiency in Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git;
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
