Position Summary:

The Senior Thermal Engineer will be instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of innovative furnace technologies tailored for advanced molten salt processing.

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, this role provides a unique opportunity to guide the design journey from initial concepts through to detailed engineering, construction, and validation.

Collaboration with technology partners, consultants, and team members will be key in developing state-of-the-art thermal equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and commissioning of innovative furnace technologies.
  • Steer the design process through conceptualization, detailed engineering, construction, and testing phases.
  • Collaborate with technology partners, consultants, and team members to ensure effective project execution.
  • Manage projects and support the creation of complex technical products, including 3D CAD designs, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Conduct thermal and structural simulations for new mechanical components and systems.
  • Generate detailed construction and fabrication drawings for timely delivery to manufacturing partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering with over 10 years of experience in high-temperature thermal systems, refractories, and molten materials.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design, prototyping, construction, and operation of furnace technologies.
  • Proficient in understanding the interactions between thermal systems and electrolytic cells, particularly regarding thermal management in electrolytic processes.
  • Strong analytical skills in structural design, thermal engineering, fluid dynamics, and product engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of sealing materials for high-temperature applications (exceeding 700°C) in corrosive molten salt and oxidizing gas environments.
  • Experience in designing and constructing refractory composite systems.
  • Formal training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred.
