Job Title: Community Health Paramedic

Job Summary:

The City of Colorado Springs is seeking a highly skilled Community Health Paramedic to join our team. As a Community Health Paramedic, you will provide medical and administrative assistance to support our Mobile Integrated Health initiatives. You will work closely with our team to provide primary care and advanced life support to critically ill, injured, and indigent populations, with the goal of reducing morbidity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Point of Care testing, draw blood, and interpret blood chemistries
  • Obtain urine samples and interpret drug and pregnancy results
  • Interpret EKG charts and determine underlying medical issues
  • Determine level of withdrawal for patients and administer COWS and SOWS
  • Assist police and fire units with citizens in active withdrawal
  • Drive and operate emergency medical vehicles in emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Support existing health services by providing integrated health services in partnership with other health professionals
  • Extend access to health services delivery in underserved and general populations
  • Screen, treat, and coordinate health services for patients
  • Conduct post-hospital release follow-up care and provide emergent patient care

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of full-time EMT-P experience
  • Valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license
  • Current ACLS, CPR, and State of Colorado or National Registry EMT-P certifications
  • Experience with Medicaid/Medicare eligibility requirements
  • Experience as a Community Paramedic with the aim of improving care and population health and reducing costs
