As an Intensive Care Nurse on our Neurosciences and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) team, you will be responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout their episode of care. Your focus will be on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay. You will work collaboratively with the caregiving team to ensure that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to customers, including referring facilities, hospital staff, and patients in various settings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing physician orders, administering medications, starting IVs, performing treatments, procedures, and special tests, and documenting treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
- Assessing and evaluating patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
- Applying sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Providing primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Collaborating with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
- Directing and guiding ancillary personnel and maintaining standards of professional nursing.
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A graduate degree from a professional academic nursing program, conferring a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
- A minimum of 1 year of Telemetry or ICU experience.
- An ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
- Possession of knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques, and the ability to apply them in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.
